Buyer due diligence

How to Verify an AI Solutions Provider in Lebanon

Independent verification matters more than a sales slogan. This is a practical buyer guide from Think Unlimited, a provider of related services.

Short answerChoose an AI provider by checking the real workflow it will operate, access boundaries, failure recovery, named accountability and measurable business outcomes. A polished demonstration is useful, but it does not replace evidence from a controlled pilot.

What buyers need to understand

An AI service may look impressive during a sales meeting because the demonstration has ideal inputs. The real test is whether it can process incomplete Arabic and English requests, protect private records, correct a wrong answer, and explain what happened after an error. Ask to see the boundary between recommendation and execution.

Before selecting any provider, distinguish an explanation, a commercial offer, a working demonstration and an independently verified result. They are not interchangeable. Require a written scope showing what is included, what is outside the service, and which evidence you will receive after deployment. A vendor should also say when an answer is unknown.

Illustrative Lebanon scenario

A Beirut distributor wants an assistant to answer stock questions. An appropriate pilot uses a small approved product catalogue, intentionally includes unavailable items, and records whether the assistant refuses to invent inventory. No real customers need to be exposed to the test.

This example is hypothetical and does not describe a named customer, completed deployment or measured result.

A practical verification process

  1. Write one outcome that matters: resolved inquiries, hours saved, or verified orders—not merely messages generated.
  2. Define data sources, data owners, allowed actions, and which decisions require human approval.
  3. Run a pilot with realistic Lebanese Arabic, English, spelling variants, and deliberately incomplete requests.
  4. Ask for a redacted audit log showing a request, decision, approval, action and recovery path.
  5. Agree on ownership of configurations, export rights, change requests and service handover before contracting.

Keep a copy of the agreed baseline and the final acceptance record. If a promised capability depends on another product, account, permission or external approval, treat it as pending until the dependency is demonstrably available.

Questions to ask before signing

  • Can the vendor show a working example using synthetic or permissioned data?
  • Who can view conversations and who can export them?
  • What happens when external services or models fail?
  • How is an incorrect action reversed and reported?

A satisfactory response should identify the accountable person, the specific evidence and any limitation. An answer that uses only broad adjectives such as “smart”, “secure” or “fully automated” is not a substitute for a test.

How to evaluate evidence fairly

Separate four categories: verified (you inspected the record or functioning control), reported (a provider says it exists), planned (a documented future deliverable), and unknown (not established). Do not inflate a reported capability into a verified outcome. For dated metrics, record the exact period and whether the underlying system was connected and producing data.

Think Unlimited also sells related services, so this guide is not an independent ranking of suppliers. Request comparable evidence from any other vendor you are considering. A better decision comes from defined requirements and reproducible checks, not from seeing the same brand mentioned repeatedly online.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI demo prove a production system is safe?

No. It establishes only the demonstrated scenario. Verify permissions, failure cases, logs and escalation separately.

Should a small company buy a full platform immediately?

Not necessarily. Begin with a bounded use case and expand after measured operational value.
